If you have stumbled upon a science book, watched a documentary, gotten bored with this planet, or have simply read anything regarding space, you’ve probably wondered if aliens exist. Aliens have perplexed scientists, and astronomers alike, for years. So, where are they, and could they actually exist?

Many flock to NASA for information regarding alien life, but any effort to do so is brushed off and met with cover-ups whose complexity surpasses that of the theories themselves. One famous event that is highly analyzed by conspiracists is the moon landing. The first two minutes of the official transmission from Aldrin and Armstrong’s trip to the moon are silent. Of course, NASA claims that this is a simple mistake and that the audio was corrupted or destroyed. However, Aldrin and the public had differing views. During this inexplicable delay, Aldrin reportedly said, “We saw some visitors…they were there for a while…there were other spaceships…they’ve landed there and they’re watching us.” This mysterious quote was soon after dismissed as a misinterpreted part of their own ship, according to NASA.

Another astronaut gave his testimony, “Yes there have been crashed craft, and bodies recovered. We are not alone in the universe, they have been coming here for a long time.” Dr. Edgar Mitchell, a United States Navy officer and aviator, said,  “I happen to be privileged enough to be in on the fact that we have been visited on this planet, and the UFO phenomenon is real.”

William Tompkins was recruited into the Navy for his capability to do advanced work on technology. He too, in regards to this event, took to speaking about his experience. He said, “The Landing Module impacted the Moon surface in the Sea of Tranquility Crater, which had tremendous size vehicles parked around part of its rim. When Armstrong made that First Step for Man on the Moon, he looked up to the edge of the crater and said to mission control: “There are other ships here, they are enormous.” The public did not hear that statement, or see the massive alien starships. Armstrong panned his camera in a 360 degree motional all around the crater, and the CIA then classified the information as way above top secret.

Many have tried to fool officials and alien enthusiasts. An example of this is an incident that occurred in 1990, in which a man from New Mexico, by the name of Gerald Anderson, said that he and members of his family came across a crashed alien spaceship in the year 1947. Anderson went as far as saying that there were bodies of injured aliens. To support his claim, he produced the “diary” of his uncle, who had reported the event. This plan backfired, however, when forensic testing proved the type of ink used in the diary wasn’t manufactured until the 1970s.

A common association with extraterrestrial life is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and is known as Area 51. This is a place infamously known for extraterrestrial experimentation and research. The military testing sight has gained quite a few visitors; in the late 1980s, the sight had the interest of many conspiracists. However, unfortunately for them, a trip to the highly secured area could land them six months in prison, a fine of upwards of $1,000, or both.

The phenomenon of aliens will continue to be one of the greatest questions in this grand universe. In the context of the universe, the idea of being alone might be more terrifying than the alternative. The complex loneliness in the vast surrounding of space is truly a never-ending topic. However, the idea that there is a civilization as developed as ours, a possible overthrowing of our society by them, or simply just the unsettling look of an alien could fuel nightmares for years to come. Humanity has become incredibly developed. However, there might just be some competition for us.
