Fortnite is a game that has been sweeping the nation since its release on July 25, 2017. In less than a year, this free to play game has racked up a total of around 3.4 million downloads. This game is available for free on a variety of platforms as well as on phones as a mobile app.

As it is now, Fortnite has two game modes to play; Save the World and Battle Royale. In Save the World, you and a team of other players try to fend off zombies, but sadly until the game is fully released, you must pay to play this game mode. Battle Royale is a little different, as you scour the map in search of better weapons that will give you an edge on the competition if you happen to cross paths. You can play solo, duo, and squads in this game mode, so you can have some fun with your friends or by yourself.

Which would you rather play on Fortnite?

When you jump out of the battle bus, you’ll notice that you pass a lot of named places around the map, these places are often bigger than the little towns that you find, but are also a lot more popular.  As the game progresses the storm begins closing in around a certain area. If one finds themselves outside of the eye wall, the storm will harm you. It will start out doing one damage, and will progress all the way up to ten damages. In order to be safe from this damage, you must stay in the eye of the storm.

The goal of Fortnite is to defeat all your opponents and become the last one standing. Orlando Toombs and Logan Whittaker said that they enjoy the teamwork that is involved. “You need to have teamwork in order to win,” Logan stated. “It’s just plain fun,” Lesley Dowdy said.

There are many different categories of weapons, and many people search for the best combinations of these. A lot of them usually begin with the pump shotgun, which does a lot of damage if hit from close range. So, with the recent removal of a strategy well-known as “double pump” another strategy has risen and it involves the pump shotgun and also the tactical shotgun.  Along with the “double pump” strategy they also ended up removing the standard sub-machine gun, but it still has an impact on they way the game is played.

“I enjoy playing games of strategy and skill. Fortnite is just that; plus, it’s highly addictive once you get the pay of the land,” Mrs. Harlan explained. To win, there are a few key things that you need to remember. The first thing you need to remember is to always have materials which you can get from breaking various items throughout the map. You need materials if you need to get up higher, build to protect yourself from incoming gunfire, and to just build a base. You also need to learn When is an appropriate time to engage with your opponent. If you engage too early you’ll miss a lot and give them time to build, if you wait too long, then they could get the first hit on you and put you at a big disadvantage. The last thing to remember is to avoid places such as “Tilted Towers” and “Retail Row” unless you are extremely skilled, as you will find it hard to make it out of them alive.

Fornite is a very entertaining game that you can get on and play with your friends, or by yourself. If you haven’t already joined the millions of gamers already playing, then get on and try it for yourself.
