The West Virginia History Bowl encompasses the learning and studying of West Virginia’s history. Students who compete will go against other schools in region one. Region one consists of other schools in Raleigh County, as well as other schools from Mercer, Summers, Monroe, McDowell, and Wyoming counties. The big competitor will take place in Pineville sometime in February. If Beckley Stratton wins, they will head to Charleston for finals.

Beckley Stratton has two teams who practice together on certain Wednesdays and certain 5th periods. Nathan Buchanan, Erinn Keohane, and Delaney Mitchell form a team, and Jacob Walker, Eli Gwinn, Jessica Bennet, and Caroline Genter make up a team.

A variety of questions questions regarding West Virginia’s history are studied. Each member of each group is assigned a different set of about 500 questions that they will be responsible for. No dates have been verified for, but the two teams plan to compete in against other schools in a “Quiz Bowl-like” competition.
