Many don’t acknowledge how much teamwork, optimism, and faith is needed when comes to playing a sport. The Beckley-Stratton Bulldog soccer team demonstrates those very characteristics each time they step foot on the field.

When one has confidence in themselves anything is achievable, and our team has reinforced this statement by winning almost every game they’ve played this season, bringing them one step closer to winning the title of county champs.

“The best key to team success is working together and being positive,” explained Alexus Richmond, an 8th grade player.

Being a part of team also means cheering each other on, both on and off the field. Ericka Hilliard expressed that “it feels amazing to be a part of the team because we all work together with our friends and achieve the goals set to beat a team, it also feels good playing a sport that you love.”

Soccer isn’t just a sport for many of the BEST 8th grader players; it’s something more than that. Many have been playing for the Bulldogs for all 3 years they have been in middle school. “BEST soccer has positively affected my life,” said goalie Daniel Dickenson. “It has taught me to do something for the good of others, even if it’s something you don’t like.”

Each of these eighth-grade players have contributed immensely to the success of the BEST soccer team, and deserve to be commended and recognized for their incredible skills. So many memories have been made throughout their time on the team.

Logan Amy reflected on his most memorable moment when he scored his first bicycle kick this season. There are amazing things to come of these players as they move on to Woodrow next year.

The BEST Times Newspaper staff encourages you to come out and support our soccer team at their next game as they work their way to taking home the county champs trophy. Go Bulldogs!
